So, about me…well, I’m a Southerner — born in Atlanta, raised in a forest a quick hot second outside city limits, in church seven days a week. But, I have traveled around the world, can speak a couple of languages, and I love stories. The worlds they contain have fascinated me since my parents (and The Cat in the Hat via a Fisher-Price record player) taught me to read. It didn’t take long for me to start creating my own worlds. In 5th grade, I made a collage of my teen detective troupe, and in 7th grade, I sketched the weathered castle I set my story in because my characters kept getting lost. When I took my first television production class in high school, another creative outlet was born.

I received my B.A. in Communications (Film/Video) with a strong minor in English from Georgia State and my M.F.A. in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. My creative works often explore “what if” when it comes to contemplating what Black looks like, and my works usually occur in historical or science-fiction settings.

I continue to work on my craft in a forested city not-as-quick a hot second from Sacramento where my husband and I are raising kids of our own.
